In January, Siempelkamp became the first company in 2025 to join the Maschinenraum ecosystem. The group wants to benefit from the exchange in the network for family businesses in order to tackle key transformation challenges.
The Maschinenraum, an alliance of almost 80 family-owned businesses as well as university partners and other innovators, is working together on the transformation of German SMEs. Siempelkamp wants to gain from the experiences of other family-owned companies and contribute its own insights.
"The Siempelkamp Group is currently shaping its transformation, which extends to many areas of the group. In order to meet our high standards, we want to think outside the box and learn from best practice examples," says CEO Martin Scherrer. "We also want to contribute our experience and learnings. The Maschinenraum offers ideal conditions for this exchange."
Opportunities for industrial SMEs
Tobias Rappers, Managing Director of Maschinenraum, sees Siempelkamp's membership as a valuable addition: "With Siempelkamp, we are adding a company that is a great asset to our network thanks to its broad industry expertise and decades of experience. Siempelkamp is exemplary for the challenges that many medium-sized companies are facing today: the balancing act between the further development of proven business areas and the design of future-oriented, sustainable solutions. I am convinced that the exchange in the Maschinenraum will provide new impetus – not only for Siempelkamp, but for all members of our network."
Sustainability, change management and digitalisation are three of the current megatrends when it comes to transforming your own business. There is also an increasing focus on establishing new technologies and countering the effects of the shortage of skilled labour. The Siempelkamp Group sees this as an opportunity to set new standards. Dealing with high energy costs in casting technology is one of the key challenges that the company wants to tackle through research and innovation. Added to this is the increased use of artificial intelligence.
