Report 2024: Bühler profits from megacasting

Megacasting systems are an increasingly lucrative source of income for Bühler. According to the company, the markets in North America and China in particular have developed well. In Europe, however, potential buyers are still hesitant.

The Bühler Group has published its results for the 2024 financial year. Despite a decline in orders, the company says it was able to maintain its turnover at around 3 billion Swiss francs (approx. 3.2 billion euros) and maintain or even increase its market share. Bühler expects orders to be stable again in 2025 - the company is "well positioned to take advantage of the opportunities that will present themselves in 2025", said CEO Stefan Scheiber at a press conference.

In the Die Casting business unit, Bühler is focussing primarily on megacasting solutions for the automotive industry. Over 40 such systems have been sold in the past two years, explains Scheiber. The greatest market potential is currently in North America and China, where the technology is most widely accepted and implemented worldwide. Bühler also recently supplied its Carat 610 megacasting solution to the Japanese automotive group Honda. "We are currently seeing a lot of energy, technical disruption and a willingness to innovate in a dynamically changing global market," says Scheiber, categorising the current development. In Europe and Germany in particular, however, he is still seeing hesitance. "But we expect the drive from overseas to increasingly spill over into the domestic markets," says the Bühler CEO.
