Outstanding female engineers wanted: Dr.-Wilhelmy-VDI Prize 2025

The VDI and the Dr. Wilhelmy Foundation are jointly supporting young female scientists in the engineering sciences. The prize, worth 3,000 euros, honours outstanding dissertations that are of great importance for science and technology in Germany. Submissions for the Dr.-Wilhelmy-VDI Prize for female doctoral students in the engineering sciences are possible until 31 May 2025.

Female engineers from all disciplines can submit their doctoral theses. The prerequisite is that the dissertation was completed with at least ‘cum laude’ and written in a German-speaking country between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2024. The prize is awarded exclusively to female applicants who have not yet reached the age of 35 at the time of submission of their dissertation. It is awarded to up to three female engineers.

The application documents (letter of motivation, CV and doctorate) can be submitted by 31 May 2025 by e-mail to wilhelmy-preis@vdi.de.

The festive award ceremony will take place during the Congress of Women in Engineering, which will be held in Dresden on 26-27 September 2025.
