Mettec Guss takes over VMG

The Austrian company Mettec Guss Metallgießerei und Formenbau has taken over the insolvent Vöcklabrucker Metallgießerei (VMG). The new VMG Niederdruckguss GmbH will be headed by Karin Kirchschlager as Managing Director from 1 March.

Mettec Guss specialises in permanent mould and sand casting. With the takeover of VMG, the low-pressure die casting process can now also be offered. According to the company, the expansion of the product portfolio to three casting processes means that customer requirements in terms of strength, surfaces and dimensional accuracy can be better met. The site in Vöcklabruck combines high-level technology, expertise and know-how, Mettec Guss says.

Kirchschlager (pictured) brings many years of expertise to her new role in management. She grew up in the foundry industry through the family business of Mettec Guss and has been managing the company's business with her husband for decades. "It is important to me to give well-trained people with their in-depth knowledge a good economic framework to achieve great things. Together we will set new standards in the industry," says Kirchschlager about the future of the new VMG Niedergruckguss GmbH. According to her, the existing 34 employees will be taken on. In addition, she wants to bring around 20 employees back from unemployment.

VMG Metall has been developing and producing aluminium castings for demanding applications since 1955. As a system supplier with a network of partner companies, the company supplies cast parts at all stages of production.
