Member of the European Parliament Andrea Wechsler visits metal foundry Schüle GmbH

Andrea Wechsler, Member of the European Parliament and Chairwoman of the State Technical Committee for Economy and Transformation, recently visited the metal foundry Schüle GmbH in Sersheim. The traditional family-owned company has been working in metal processing since 1957 and employs around 90 employees.

During the visit, Wechsler emphasised the important role of medium-sized and family-run companies for Germany's competitiveness. ‘My role as a Member of the European Parliament, particularly on the Industry Committee, is to repeatedly emphasise the value of these family businesses and medium-sized companies for competitiveness and job security in Germany and to work towards the importance of an efficient and effective energy policy for low energy prices,’ she explained.

The challenges posed by official processes were the focus of the discussions with the management of the metal foundry Schüle GmbH. Topics such as applying for funding, approval procedures for renovations or the installation of photovoltaic systems, as well as the requirements of the Whistleblower Protection Act and emission measurements were addressed. The difficult situation caused by the approaching residential development, which led to significant problems for numerous competitors, including the closure of plants, was also discussed.

The metal foundry Schüle GmbH, known for its high-precision metal casting products, sees itself as an important player in the region. Despite the challenges posed by regulatory hurdles and the pressure on industrial land, the company is looking positively to the future and is focusing on innovation and sustainability.
