The Industry 4.0 research advisory board welcomes Marc Hüske as a new member. The current 31 representatives from science and industry are identifying research-based solutions for the further development and implementation of Industry 4.0. In doing so, the topics of sustainability, resilience, interoperability, technological sovereignty and the central role of people are increasingly coming into focus. The Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board, which is coordinated by acatech, advises the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Industry 4.0 Platform in particular.
Marc Hüske is now contributing his extensive expertise to the Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board. Since 2024, he has been head of the Manufacturing-X forum at VDMA e. V. and is responsible for the transfer of project results as a sub-project manager in Factory-X. Prior to this, Marc Hüske spent more than 20 years in various management positions in laser machine construction, with a focus on the initialisation and implementation of new technologies. During this time, he was a member of the board of the VDMA Photovoltaic Production Equipment department. Marc Hüske studied electrical engineering at the University of Hannover, specialising in microelectronics, and received his doctorate from the Institute of Materials Science in the field of laser measurement technology as part of research work on plasma fusion cutting.
"As the largest network organisation and an important mouthpiece for mechanical engineering in Germany and Europe, the VDMA acts as an intermediary between the research council and a large number of users of Industrie 4.0," explains Harald Schöning (Software AG), industry spokesperson on the Industrie 4.0 research council. "We are therefore delighted that the VDMA will continue to work with a highly competent representative on the research council."
Dietmar Goericke (VDMA e.V.), Jürgen Gausemeier (Heinz-Nixdorf-Institut, University of Paderborn) and Michael ten Hompel (Fraunhofer IML, TU Dortmund) have left the Research Advisory Board.
"The VDMA is an important partner of the Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board," says Peter Liggesmeyer (Fraunhofer IESE), spokesperson for science on the Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board. "We would like to thank Dietmar Goericke for his work as a representative of the VDMA and look forward to working with his successor Marc Hüske in this role. We would also like to thank Mr Gausemeier and Mr ten Hompel for their contributions and wish them all the best."
