Industry 4.0 research advisory board welcomes Boris Otto as a member

The Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board welcomes Boris Otto as a new member. The current 33 representatives from science and industry are identifying research-based solutions for the further development and implementation of Industry 4.0. In doing so, the topics of sustainability, resilience, interoperability, technological sovereignty and the central role of people are increasingly coming into focus. The Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board, which is coordinated by acatech, advises the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Industry 4.0 Platform in particular.

Boris Otto is now contributing his extensive expertise to the Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board. The industrial engineer and computer scientist specialises in industrial data ecosystems, data spaces and data management in industrial companies. He has been the director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Software and Systems Engineering ISST in Dortmund since 2017. He has also been a professor of industrial information management at the Technical University of Dortmund since 2013. In addition, Boris Otto is the deputy chairman of the Catena-X Automotive Network and a member of the board of the Gaia-X European Association for Data and Cloud. He is also chairman of the board of directors of the Fraunhofer ICT Group and thus a member of the executive board of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

"I am delighted to have gained a top-class colleague for the Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board in Boris Otto, who in particular plays a central role with regard to the data spaces that are currently emerging. I am sure that Boris Otto will provide important impetus for the work of the Research Advisory Board," explains Peter Liggesmeyer (Fraunhofer IESE), spokesperson for science on the Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board.

"Boris Otto is an important figure at the interface between research and industry. He is a valuable addition to the Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board. I look forward to working with him," says Harald Schöning (Software AG), Industry Spokesperson for the Industry 4.0 Research Advisory Board.
