The starting signal for submissions for the 15th Gustav Eirich Award has been given. From now until 31 May, applicants can submit dissertations and independent scientific work, such as habilitations or post-doctoral theses, for the award. The three best theses, which must have been completed no more than two years ago, will be honoured.
Eirich is cooperating with the ECREF European Centre for Refractories, the scientific institution of the German Refractories Industry Association, to organise the award. "We believe that the interplay of tradition and innovation plays an important role in the further development of the industry. This is why we have been honouring innovations, impulses and ideas for the refractories industry with the award for many years. We want to support up-and-coming talent that impresses with creative and sustainable answers to the challenges of today and tomorrow," says Stephan Eirich, Managing Director.
An international jury consisting of independent experts from business and science from Germany, France, Austria, Poland, Spain and the USA will evaluate the submissions and honour the best ideas. The winners will receive prize money totalling 3,000, 2,000 and 1,000 euros.
The award ceremony will take place as part of the "International Colloquium on Refractories" (ICR) on 18 September in Aachen.
