GIFA Mexico picking up speed

GIFA Mexico will be the leading foundry trade fair for the Mexican and Latin American markets from 16 to 18 October 2024. The premiere of GIFA Mexico, which forms part of Düsseldorf’s “The Bright World of Metals” portfolio, will be presenting technology innovations, sustainable solutions and setting trends for the international foundry industry at the Centro Citibanamex in Mexico. An ideal location: because Mexico’s automotive industry is booming.

The structural change from combustion engines to e-mobility as well as the growing expansion of the Chinese automotive industry that has identified Latin America as a manufacturing and expanding market, lead to an investment race in the region. The winners of this development are especially long-established manufacturing locations like Mexico, one of Latin America’s automobile production countries. Mexico looks back on decades of experience in vehicle production and also benefits from its proximity to the “lithium triangle” in Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. This region is suspected to hold some two thirds of the world’s lithium deposits that are of central importance for e-vehicle battery production. With its large domestic market and geographic proximity to the USA, the country is an ideal production location for many international automakers and upstream suppliers.

“Mexico City, host to the well-established foundry trade fair FUNDIEXPO, is therefore the ideal location for GIFA Mexico,” explains Malte Seifert, Director Metals, Energy & Autonomous Technologies at Messe Düsseldorf. “This is a key market for German and international companies, this is where the industry’s innovation drivers are. We are delighted to be able to contribute with our longstanding expertise as a global partner of the industry to further boost the international flair of the event and facilitate market access for European companies.”

The Mexican format of GIFA, the world-leading trade fair for the foundry industry in Düsseldorf since 1956, is designed to give especially German and European companies the opportunity to showcase their top technologies and international operational excellence on the Latin American market and forge business contacts.

Current registration levels are suitably pleasing: exhibitors at GIFA Mexico and FUNDIEXPO include many international household names in the industry such as ASK Chemicals, Bühler, Electrotherm, General Kinematics, Haitian, MAGMA, Norican Group, Oskar Frech, Sinto Group, Tinker Omega, Vesuvius Foseco and Yizumi. Further enterprises from Germany, India, Turkey, Italy, Spain and China have already confirmed their participation. National pavilions from China, Italy and Spain are also represented in the exhibition halls.

GIFA Mexico is held in cooperation with the partner Mexican Foundry Society, A.C. (Sociedad Mexicana de Fundidores, A.C./ SMFAC) as part of the established Mexican trade fair FUNDIEXPO and presents new machinery, equipment, materials, technologies and solutions for the foundry industry.

Concurrently with the trade fair, visitors to GIFA Mexico and FUNDIEXPO can gather information on tomorrow’s trends in the foundry industry at a range of 90 lectures. At the same time, the sustainability theme is increasing in importance, as reflected by the conference agenda. Another programme highlight is the Global Metallurgy & Foundry Summit, where fifteen international foundry associations from Asia, Europe and America will be presenting their solutions for the industry. Beyond this, seminars will provide the expert audience with valuable insights and continuous education offerings.
