GAC Group builds new integrated die casting plant

GAC Group has officially commenced construction on its GAOG Digital New Factory in the Industrial Park for Intelligent & Connected New Energy Vehicles in Panyu, Guangzhou. The project, with an investment exceeding 1.2 billion yuan (about 165 million euros), will be developed in two phases.

The first phase, set to begin production in January 2026, will deliver an annual capacity of 125,000 battery housings, 200,000 steel-aluminum subframes, and 130,000 body components, supporting both GAC Group’s proprietary and joint-venture brands.

The second phase, targeted for completion in October 2026, will focus on R&D advancements in modular integrated die-casting, introducing production lines for 100,000 front cabin and rear floor die-cast parts. This initiative aims to close technological gaps within GAC Group and provide lightweight solutions for its brands, including Trumpchi and AION.

"Hub for component technology innovation"

The investment in the GAOG Digital New Factory aims to advance intelligent manufacturing of key components like battery housings and body parts, explains Feng Xingya, General Manager of GAC Group. The facility is to explore modular assembly techniques to incorporate world-leading flexible production lines, AI-powered quality inspection systems, and digital twin technologies. "With these efforts, we aim to establish the factory as a hub for component technology innovation and set a benchmark for intelligent manufacturing, providing strong support for the intelligent and lightweight development of new energy vehicles,” says Xingya.

Founded in 2009, Guangzhou GAOG Molding and Stamping Co., Ltd. operates production facilities in Guangzhou, Changsha, and Yichang, with an additional branch in Thailand. A key player in the automotive stamping and welding parts industry, the company specializes in body stamping components, power battery housings, and steel-aluminum subframes. With independent R&D capabilities, GAOG has established an integrated operation model spanning research, production, supply, and sales.
