This year, the Peter R. Sahm Innovation Award was presented at the ‘Große Gießereitechnische Tagung’ foundry evening in Salzburg. It went to the company DGS Druckguss Systeme, St. Gallen. Andreas Müller, Managing Director at DGS, accepted the award - visibly moved and proud.
In his laudatory speech, Dr Erwin Flender, founder of the Innovation Award and Managing Director of the VDG, emphasised: ‘Innovations are ideas that have been successfully implemented commercially - and that is why the Innovation Award of the German Foundry Industry is presented. Not everything leads to the desired success and without perseverance, consistent pursuit and the permanent search for the best solution, you usually don't make it. This working atmosphere and these working methods have been in place at DGS for years and are the main reason for our continued success.’
The Federal Association of the German Foundry Industry (BDG) has been awarding the ‘Innovation Prize of the German Foundry Industry - Peter R. Sahm’ for several years now to companies, organisations or individuals who have rendered outstanding services to material, process and product innovations in the foundry industry. The award consists of a certificate, a sculpture and a cash prize of 15,000 euros.
