Apply now for the Swedish Steel Prize 2025

The Swedish Steel Prize honours companies that make a positive contribution to their business, industry or society through the creative use of steel. Applications for the Swedish Steel Prize can be submitted from anywhere in the world. The prize is intended to inspire engineers, designers and inventors to explore the unlimited potential of steel. The competition promotes the exchange of innovative solutions that lead to a better and more sustainable world.

‘The Swedish Steel Prize is a tribute to innovation, good engineering and knowledge sharing,’ explains Eva Petursson, chair of the Swedish Steel Prize jury and head of research and innovation at SSAB. ’We are looking for applications that push the boundaries of our imagination and show how steel can help meet the challenges facing our society.’

Companies or institutions are eligible to enter the Swedish Steel Prize. The prize is awarded to the process or product that best demonstrates how the properties of steel have contributed to a significant innovation. To be accepted for the prize, nominated products must be feasible from a business perspective and at least in the form of a prototype, while nominated processes must be tested and documented for use in production.

All entries will be judged by an independent jury according to the criteria of innovation/creativity, sustainability, performance and competitiveness.

The winner will be announced at the award ceremony during the Swedish Steel Prize Days, which will take place in Stockholm from 6 to 8 May 2025. This three-day event attracts numerous representatives from the industry to discuss and be inspired by new steel technologies and their applications. The prize money of SEK 100,000 will be donated by SSAB to a charitable cause.
