On 16 October 2024, conference chair Dr. Marco Götze, State Secretary Thomas Wünsch (Ministry of Science, Energy, Climate Protection and Environment of the State of Saxony-Anhalt), Rector Prof. Markus Krabbes (Merseburg University of Applied Sciences) and the Lord Mayor of the City of Merseburg, Sebastian Müller-Bahr, welcomed the participants of the 3D Printing Forum 2024.
Once a year, experts exchange ideas on the latest developments, challenges, possibilities and opportunities in 3D printing. The focus is on both industrial applications and social potential. This year, in addition to experts from the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences in Jena, the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences and the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, representatives from business and politics were also guests at the Merseburg University of Applied Sciences.
In exciting specialist lectures and an accompanying exhibition, visitors had the opportunity to learn about the latest 3D printing developments in business and science and to get an overview of the current state of the various fields of application in which 3D printers are already in use. 3D printing technologies can now be found in almost all areas, from aerospace and automotive engineering to manufacturing, medicine, architecture, construction and art. There are hardly any restrictions in terms of materials either: depending on the 3D printing technology, almost anything can be used – from metal to old coffee powder.
Throughout the day, the forum offered many opportunities to talk to experts, discuss your own ideas and share valuable experiences.
The ‘Central German Forum 3D Printing in Application’ is organised annually by the HTWK Leipzig, the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena, the Merseburg University of Applied Sciences and the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences. In autumn 2025, the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences will be the host and venue of the forum.
